Ruben Amorim Says Not Even The Pope Can Fix His Losing Tactics

Ruben Amorim is clinging to his beloved 3-4-3 like it’s a life raft—even as Manchester United sinks to their worst win record since WWII. Eight wins in 31 games? The Vatican might want to intervene.

After another derby disaster and a surprise helicopter visit from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Amorim laughed off talk of changing formation. “Not even the Pope will change me,” he quipped—though many fans would happily call in divine intervention at this point.

Critics point to Bruno Fernandes playing deeper, missing runners, and looking more like a lost altar boy than United’s talisman. Still, Amorim insists he’s “balancing the team” while waiting for new signing Cunha to deliver salvation.

Meanwhile, director of football Jason Wilcox admitted the club is in a worse state than he imagined, saying he “prays” for better days. United fans may want to start lighting candles.
